31 km
7 stations
2.5 km depot connection line
Yüksel Proje has undertaken the preparation of the detailed design for the 31 km-long Istanbul Airport–Halkalı Rail System Line. The project includes seven bored tunnel-type stations, a 2.5 km depot connection line, as well as the depot area and maintenance, repair, and support facilities.
The scope of services covers the architectural, excavation support, and structural design of the alignment, TBM and NATM tunnels, stations, and entrance-exit structures. In addition, the design of all electromechanical systems along the line and within the stations has been carried out, and the corresponding detailed design documents have been prepared.
The line has been designed to provide integration with four different rail transit corridors: the Arnavutköy–Vezneciler Line at İbni Haldun Station, the Başakşehir–Kayaşehir Line at Kayaşehir Station, the İkitelli–Olimpiyatköy Line at Olimpiyatköy Station, and both the Kirazlı–Halkalı Line and Marmaray Line at Halkalı Station.
The Istanbul Airport–Halkalı section forms part of an approximately 70 km-long rail system connecting Gayrettepe, Istanbul Airport, and Halkalı. Yüksel Proje has prepared the final design for the entire system.
Architectural Concept
The architectural design of the stations is based on fluid and organic forms that reflect the dynamic character of the metro system. Extending across ceilings, walls, and architectural elements, these forms create a sense of spatial continuity and visual coherence while supporting intuitive passenger wayfinding. While a common design language establishes a unified identity throughout the line, a distinctive primary color assigned to each station enables easy differentiation.
The design prioritizes user comfort and sustainability through acoustic performance, durable materials, energy-efficient lighting, and effective ventilation solutions. Modular components and standardized architectural features have also been adopted to improve efficiency during construction, maintenance, and operation.
